Staff
Brad Canning (Pastor/Team Leader)
Besides my love for my family, my other passions include playing Frisbee, watching movies, and reading a good book. My only exercise is play, and I don't play enough . . . I enjoy golfing (but rarely get a tee time), and dodge ball is in my DNA. My favorite superhero is Wolverine. I love that as a Pastor and Team Leader, I get to spend much of my time teaching, leading, and caring for my friends and family here at Church!
Joy Canning (Director of Early Childhood Ministries)
Hi, I'm Joy. I have a great life! I love my husband, Brad, my two girls, Tori and Ali, my work as Early Childhood Director at Church!, my involvement in my daughters' classrooms, my friends at Church!, and the community and neighborhood that I live in. I love the neighborhood feel of Park Slope, I can walk down the blocks near my house and know and be known by so many people! I love the diversity and how my thinking is challenged almost daily. One of my favorite things to do is read, whether it be for enjoyment, at Toddler Story Time, or in Tori and Ali’s classrooms. I especially like biographies and historical novels. I also enjoy baking, flower gardening, playing outside, and watching movies.
Aubrey Hairston (Worship Leader)
I am originally from Burke, VA and have been playing the piano since I was seven years old. I've always had a love for music, I'm not a virtuoso, but I can learn most things. I ended up in New York trying my hand at the music business and after five years of banging my head against walls and hearing "no" a lot, I started to realize that maybe it wasn't what God had in store for me. I began writing Christian songs and found that they had "a little something more" to them. I'm currently working on a new album and I'm pretty excited about that. I love Church! and all that it has brought into my life. The friends, the community, and my lovely wife-to-be. When I'm not working on Church! and music stuff, I enjoy watching a ton of T.V. and movies, playing/watching football, and exploring Prospect Park.
Levi Hutton (Postmark Manager)
My name is Levi Hartley Hutton. I am among the lucky few that can call Montana “home”. I grew a taste for coffee early in life. As a toddler, my grandpa would pour coffee into my sippy-cup. And even though I was told coffee would stunt my growth, my love for a good cup of joe (as he called it), grew and grew. It has always been my dream to run/manage a coffee shop of my own. But when I felt God’s leading into full-time ministry, I gave up that dream (or so I thought).
I grew up in a large Christian family. My parents encouraged all of their kids to seek after God and discover their own personal faith. My faith led me around the globe on different mission trips to Africa, Asia, Central-America and eventually to Ozark Christian College to earn my degree in Intercultural Studies.
It amazes me how God can take my love for coffee and my heart for other cultures, and land me in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, doing what I love most, loving God, People and Coffee.
Alistair Crompton (Leadership Resident)
When I’m not hanging out with friends, I’m immersed in books. I love books enough to try and create a few of my own -- I’ve written a few fantasy and fiction stories. I haven’t published anything, but I do enjoy trying. I’m interested in soccer (the one true football) and theatre, so if you’re catching a game or watching a play, hit me up. I’m here at Church! to learn what it means to love God in community and to bring that back to England, my home country. I love the community and the city -- I’m grateful to be a part of God’s plan here.
